This painting started as an initial sketch in a small sketch book (A5) I usually carry around with me. It is a view i know quite well as its opposite my framers shop looking towards St Gregorys Alley from St Benedicts in Norwich. After initially failing to capture the scene with an A4 plein air portrait oil painting, I then went for a larger A3 landscape oil painting. Its an example of reviewing what you are painting and thinking about the reason why you are painting it.
